Position Details

Lead hardware development and prototyping for V-SENSE sensing systems. Design, build, and test prototype electronics and sensor platforms. Manage lab equipment, oversee fabrication and assembly processes, and ensure documentation of all designs and testing protocols. Work directly with faculty and graduate students to translate research concepts into functional hardware.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and prototype sensing system electronics (schematics, PCB layout, component selection)
  • Fabrication, assembly, troubleshooting, and testing of hardware platforms
  • Operate and maintain lab equipment (oscilloscopes, soldering stations, measurement tools)
  • Document designs, assembly procedures, testing protocols, and performance results
  • Collaborate with faculty and graduate students on hardware development and validation
  • Support field deployments and troubleshooting of hardware systems

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • Hands-on experience with PCB design, schematic capture, and circuit prototyping
  • Proficiency with electronics test equipment and soldering/assembly techniques
  • Strong documentation and technical drawing skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively on hardware projects

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with microcontroller platforms (Arduino, STM32, similar)
  • Familiarity with mixed-signal circuit design or RF circuits
  • Experience with PCB manufacturing and component sourcing
  • Previous work in sensor systems or embedded hardware development
  • CAD experience (KiCad, Altium, or similar)

Position Details

Design and execute rigorous experimental validation studies for sensing systems. Develop automated testing protocols, collect and analyze performance data, and ensure sensor systems meet specifications before deployment. Work with faculty to design validation methodologies and contribute to clinical or field studies evaluating system performance in real environments.

Position Details

Develop firmware and software for embedded sensing systems deployed in real operational environments. Write real-time signal processing algorithms, manage device-to-cloud communication, optimize power consumption, and ensure reliable operation in field deployments. Support both prototyping and production phases of sensing platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop firmware for microcontrollers and embedded Linux systems
  • Implement real-time signal processing and on-device algorithms
  • Design and optimize device communication protocols (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, cellular, LoRaWAN)
  • Optimize power consumption for battery-powered and energy-harvesting systems
  • Debug hardware/software integration issues and performance bottlenecks
  • Write clean, documented code and manage version control
  • Support field deployments and firmware updates for deployed systems

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • Strong proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems
  • Experience with microcontroller development and embedded operating systems
  • Understanding of real-time systems and low-level hardware interfaces
  • Experience with version control (Git) and code documentation

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with ARM Cortex-M or similar architectures
  • Real-time DSP or signal processing implementation

Position Details

Support biosensor development and validation through chemical and biological expertise. Perform sample preparation, conduct biocompatibility testing, design biological assays, and characterize sensor materials and interfaces. Work closely with faculty to translate sensing concepts into validated biosensor platforms ready for clinical or field use.
