V-SENSE Welcomes Prof. Minh Do as Strategic Leader
V-SENSE Institute is pleased to announce that Prof. Minh Do has joined as strategic leader to guide the institute's research vision and expansion. Prof. Do brings exceptional credentials and extensive experience from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), where he spent over two decades advancing signal processing, sensor systems, and trusted computing research.
A signal processing engineer with a PhD from École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL, 2001) and author of over 150 peer-reviewed publications, Prof. Do is recognized internationally as an IEEE Fellow. His career has spanned the development of foundational algorithms, hardware platforms, and systems that enable machines to sense reliably, communicate uncertainty, and operate with verifiable trust—core pillars of the V-SENSE research agenda.
The appointment marks a significant moment for Vietnam's technology landscape. Prof. Do returns from UIUC, one of the world's premier engineering institutions, to establish and lead cutting-edge research initiatives that position Vietnam at the forefront of trusted sensing and self-aware computing. V-SENSE, housed at VinUniversity, is envisioned as a flagship center where world-class faculty, advanced facilities, and emerging talent collaborate on research that bridges fundamental science and real-world application.
"V-SENSE represents Vietnam's opportunity to lead in trusted sensing research. As a strategic partner, I'm excited to support this mission—building systems of global significance while strengthening Vietnam's scientific standing. Our goal is hardware that is not just intelligent, but fundamentally trustworthy."
— Prof. Minh Do, Dean of Engineering, VinUniversity & Strategic Partner, V-SENSE Institute
Over the past 20+ years at UIUC, Prof. Do established himself as a pioneer in areas including image processing, computational sensing, and robust machine learning. His work has influenced the design of practical systems deployed in medicine, autonomous systems, and industrial sensing. His recognition as an IEEE Fellow reflects sustained contribution to the field and the high regard of his peers worldwide.
Prof. Do's leadership arrives as V-SENSE expands its research teams, completes its facility upgrades, and launches new collaborations with international institutions. The institute is recruiting faculty across multiple research tracks and inviting graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and visiting scholars to join. Under Prof. Do's strategic direction, V-SENSE aims to become a destination for researchers and engineers seeking to solve the deepest questions in sensing, signal processing, and computing systems.
